Auditions for “White”

Dates: June 1 – June 11, 2023  

Auditions: Feb 28, 2023 and March 2, 2023. 6:15 – 10:00 PM, both evenings. MSU Auditorium, Room 305 (Requires climbing stairs, not ADA accessible). Virtual option will be provided.  

What to Prepare: One dramatic or comedic contemporary monologue, no more than two minutes in length. Please bring a copy of a headshot and theatre resume. 

Rehearsal Info: Rehearsals will begin in mid to late April, pending cast availability. Rehearsals will take place at Sycamore Creek Church, 1919 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48910. Rehearsals will run 6:15 – 10:00 PM for 4 or 5 days a week. 

Character Breakdown: 

Gus – White male, 20s – 30s 

Vanessa – Black female, 20s 

Jane – White female, 20s-30s 

Tanner – Asian male, 20s 

Intimacy Notice: 

The show White contains moments of intimacy. 

All moments of intimacy will be built while following principles outlined in the Pillars of Intimacy: Context, Communication, Consent, Choreography, and Closure. 

Note: All moments of intimacy will be consulted on by an intimacy director. 

Role of Gus contains intimacy in the form of romantic touch and kissing with the character of Tanner. 

Role of Tanner contains intimacy in the form of romantic touch and kissing with the character of Gus. 

Please note that the level of intimacy will be decided based on the comfort of all actors involved.
