Dance Nation

Prepare to witness the raw, unfiltered power of adolescence in Clare Barron’s Dance Nation, a Pulitzer Prize finalist that explodes onto the stage with ferocious energy and sharp humor. Somewhere in America, a competitive dance troupe of pre-teen girls claws their way toward a national championship, discovering the terrifying and transformative strength of their own bodies.

This production addresses vital issues of female agency, the complexity of ambition, and the societal pressures placed on young people. By casting adult actors to portray these middle-schoolers, the play encourages a profound dialogue about how the ghosts of our past selves shape our present identities. It is a visceral, surreal, and deeply entertaining exploration that raises awareness of the resilience required to navigate the transition into adulthood. Join us for a theatrical experience that is as heart-wrenching as it is hilarious, demanding we look closer at the fire burning inside the next generation.
